this town was full of women

nobody did
anything
with a sigh

god didn’t want to see tired
the women knew

here in a tennesee valley
hatching     all the houses
with their wings spread

mothers hovering
long-legged
out of the nests

up where crows
will be heard
by the world

  1. Love love love “nobody did/anything/with a sigh”. What a great opening for a novel as well this piece. And the second stanza stands right up to it. Wow sounds like your muse is smokin. Very inspiring to read. Andrea
